A little touch of green goes a long way in winter. That's a bit of information that I have paid little attention to in the past. But this year we got a few table top evergreens early in the season that gave a festive air to the patio long before our recent light snowfall. Turns out that a little patch of snow on an evergreen bough may be all the holiday decoration I need.
Because the temps stayed low for so long, we got a few extra days of nature's glitter than we have had in a very long time. And I love the look of garden structures covered in snow!
This loveliest of table covers finally melted completely away only today. . . .
It all keeps me hopeful that we may have a bit more to look forward to in the months to come.
I also just finished my first seeded eucalyptus wreath. I wish that I could tell you how easy it is. (It probably is!) But it wasn't the snap that I had envisioned it to be. At any rate, I love its fragrance and the loose organic shape it lends to the decor.
Eucalyptus dries beautifully, and is fairly easy to preserve intact if you handle it carefully. We'll see!
I love to have at least a few live sprigs around the house right into the new year.
And yes, the paperwhites are beginning to bloom!
A bit sporadic for now, but I am finding the scent so powerful that I'm glad there aren't too many yet.
So far the leaning corrects itself by rotating the plant. Magic! And hooray for small victories!
So that's how the winter green fares so far around these parts!
Thanks so much for stopping by for a look.
I have much catching up online to do! But thank you for your visits and comments here while there is so much dazzling and beautiful to be found around blog town these days!
Stay merry!
Jacqueline

Hi J,
ReplyDeleteWell those patio trees are fabulously flocked, your whole patio does, the pristine white tabletop! I love the Wreath, here we have too much pine and cedar, so I am loving the idea of a leafier wreath and will be stealing your inspiration next year! The Paper Whites are dazzling in the sun!!! Beauty abounds!
Hugs,
B
The snow looks very pretty covering your patio furnishings. I love the wreath and imagine it smells quite nice compared to the heady scent of the paperwhites. Mine are blooming now too and so strong! Murray keeps asking what 'that' smell is. :)
ReplyDeleteEverything looks so lovely! Loving your paperwhites and other plants and the snowy photos!
ReplyDeleteYour garden patio is divine. The fresh pines with topped snow is enough decor for me too. The paper whites are so beautiful but yes the scent is too powerful for me as well.
ReplyDeleteLovely winter scenes you have captured and your wreath is very pretty with it's vintage card. I do love the scent - so sharp and fresh. It must make a good contrast to the very sweet paper whites which do look especially nice against your lace curtains. Such a treat to visit your lovely blog. xo Karen
ReplyDeleteThat white birdcage, I could stare at for days and learn something. Paperwhites look so nice! I found some. I commented on the previous post, 321 bulbs, half of which I planted outside so far for spring, 27 were paperwhites now in various thrift store treasures inside watching them grow inch by inch, can't wait. Have you tried using branches to hold up the paperwhites? they work well too.
ReplyDeleteEverything, inside and out, looks lovely! Nature's decor!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Jacqueline! I love how snow makes each piece so sculptural. Rotating, staking, and using jute twine to keep my fragrant paper whites upright too:)
ReplyDeleteWhat a difference fresh greens make... can't wait to bring mine in.
ReplyDeleteLove your wreath, Jacqueline. It must smell heavenly in your beautiful home.
Happy day to you & yours,
Lin
Hi Jacqueline,
ReplyDeleteThe beauty in nature is the best décor. Love your greens and snow covered garden.
We had the ice and it's still hanging on but melting with the sunshine.
Wishing you a wonderful day.
Christmas Hugs
So lucky to have the snow at your doorstep just before Christmas time! Your patio looks fabulous, no trace of snow or ice here!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the upcoming festive time!!!
Hugs, Olympia
The green and white is gorgeous and I especially love that eucalyptus wreath. I'm seeing plenty of that combination as I look out my window but it's not as pretty as yours!
ReplyDeleteI'm really enjoying the beauty of greens paired with lovely whites! Your wreath is so pretty and dainty! What could be more Christmasy than snow on top of greens? Love it!!!

How pretty all the evergreens are with the snow! I like your wreath too!
ReplyDeleteSherry
What a beautiful post, love the use of fresh greens too. It looks so magical with the snow!!

Jacqueline. You are so right. Just that small dusting of snow sets the mood for a holiday celebration. Sweet wreath, and they do dry very easily. I have never made a wreath but have sprigs left over from floral arrangements and if you handle them carefully they will last a long time. The paperwhites are so beautiful and I do love the smell but a little does go a long ways..Stay warm..Happy Thursday..Judy
ReplyDeleteLet's hope that all the snow heading my way will look as pretty as it does at your home!
ReplyDeleteYour photographs are beautiful and I am in love with that white birdcage. We have had ice for a week now and it is finally just about gone. Happy Holidays!

Oh I just love paper whites at Christmas.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous. The Paperwhites are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteWell, however long it took you to make that wreath, it was well worth it. And the postcard is simply beautiful. I love all that you do, Jacqueline.

Jacqueline,
ReplyDeleteThis post featuring your garden structures and evergreens in the SNOW is exquisite, dear friend!!!
I must admit, that although many delicate items must come indoors for the winter, I purposely leave some for "Art in the Garden" during the Winter here on the Prairie!
Like you, such a busy time. . .I'm having trouble getting around to visit as quickly as I should!!!
Fondly,
Pat
Jacqueline, Merry merry Christmas! What a beautiful post filled with your lovely decorations. xo Lidy
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely garnish nature gave your trees and garden, Jacqueline. A perfect coat of white fluff and sparkle. (Don't you love those puffs of perfectly shaped snow on the tops of tables, posts, and statue heads?) Your wreath is so pretty and perfect for your home. I haven't started paperwhites yet, but yes! they do correct themselves with a quick turn to the sun. Hoping you enjoy these enchanting days as Christmas draws near.
ReplyDeleteCharming garden pictures and I love your wreath! I have paperwhites too this year--I forgot how powerful the scent is.
