A spin through a local second hand shop that I've never visited before yielded this beautiful rose teacup and saucer. I was thrilled to find another Paragon design with roses.
So naturally it needs to be enjoyed near the only live roses on the premises. A miniature pot from the grocery store having a second bloom. (Don't ask me how I managed that!)
I came across some dainty worked linen napkins to go with it. They belong to a matching tea cloth also done in applique, but I wanted this one with the soft pink bands today. The last day of April!
The cup and saucer were found together, but I'm thinking they may not be a pair because of the marks. What do you think?
The cup mark.
The saucer mark. Maybe you can see a very pale wash of pink on the saucer.
I'm doing a mix and match with napkins too. I found these three small embroidered napkins too darling to resist. So sweet. It all makes for a cheery patio tea!
It was 85 degrees in Albuquerque today! Makes it hard to get any serious work done. All I wanted to do was play. I'm thinking a lot about picnics. . . .
A sweet goodbye to April until next year.
We're all ready for May!
Jacqueline
Those little napkins are so sweet.
ReplyDeleteYour photographs capture the beauty of this delicate cup so well. Gorgeous! And it doesn't matter in the slightest that the cup and saucer weren't a proper set originally, they sure are a lovely set now.
ReplyDeleteI love the way you photograph up close. The detailing is perfect.
ReplyDeleteIt's not a match but goes super together. Roses and tea with freshly pressed linen and sunshine. Ahhhhhhhh x
Hi J,
ReplyDeleteA lovely pairing your new teacup makes, I always like the gold etched look patterns (I have no idea what they are called) :-) Those napkins with the potted plants are darling... 85 well WOWEE, I would be thinking of picnics too!

Love your little dainty napkins, and Paragon makes my absolute favourite china! Pretty.
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI love your new teacup set - they may not match but they sure play well together, for sure!
Hugs.
Your teacup and saucer were married beautifully together. It is gorgeous! One of my favourite teacups is also not a 'set' but it looks like it ought to be. Your napkins are really sweet too. Feel free to link up for my tea party if you wish. I am very happy it's the end of April, May is my favourite month.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Sandi
I was so ready for May that I changed all my calendars this morning thinking it was May 1st! I love the pretty teacup and saucer even though they are mismatched. The napkins are all so sweet with their little bouquets on them. It is funny how napkins are found in odd numbers as I've found that as well. It was 70 here again today and sunny which is unseasonably warm. I'm not complaining as it's perfect to me. Enjoy your picnic weather. Pam
ReplyDeleteWe saw so simple and so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLove your visit!
Kisses
Beautiful cup and I love those napkins! Too cute! What a gorgeous rose too. Ours aren't ready yet but they look bushy! Maybe that will translate to a lot of blooms! :)

A beautiful teacup even if they don't go together. I don't mind mixing it up when they are so pretty. Lovely napkins too.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are always a pleasure to look at. A beatiful cup with the perfect saucer. I think they were meant to be. Love the roses..

Hi Jacqueline,
ReplyDeleteLove your new sweet set. They may not have been a match but they sure do look lovely together with that soft pink on the saucer. Darling little napkins too. Everything comes together for a beautiful look as only you can display.
Happy Wednesday, Hugs, CM
Dear Jacqueline,
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely post. I love your new cup and I think it is all the more charming that the sweet cup and saucer found each other. They look perfect together.
Your napkins have such beautiful work on them. I wouldn't have been able to resist either one.

You take really beautiful pix.
Love that the cup and saucer mated! They look stunning together. Great find on the linens too. You got a second bloom out of the mini roses! I say plant them in the yard, they are keepers. Have a great day.. we have a blustery 38 right now.. freeze in the morning and then 80 saturday.. Spring! xo marlis
ReplyDeleteI love your new cup and saucer, Jacqueline. (They look beautiful together, regardless of what the marks might be!) And those little napkins are so dear... I think they want to be together, too, the way they pick up one another's pink. I hope you were able to have your picnic.
ReplyDeleteJacqueline,
ReplyDeleteLOVE, love, love this cup and saucer, dear friend!!! Although, I doubt they are a true match...they certainly compliment each other well!!!
Those little cocktail napkins are adorable, too!!!
A Patio Tea, hm~m~m... sounds like a wonderful plan!!!

Pat

Charming- love the hand stitching!
ReplyDeleteJacqueline, your new finds are beautiful! I absolutely love the Paragon cup and saucer. Exquisite! Do you think 'Her Majesty, the Queen' used this pattern? It would seem so. How elegant and true beauty is so relaxing, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteAnd thank you for the nice comment about my knitting and tatting. I'm sure you could learn both, really. the tatting is so tiny, you can tuck it in a pocket or purse and have it anywhere you go.
I was browsing the net last night and a tatter said she will fashion a tatting shuttle out of cardboard or plastic if she has time to kill and a bit of thread! Hmmm. =)
Oooooo, that third photo should grace the cover of a magazine, i can't stop scrolling back up to look at it...
