When was the last time you admired an egg carton? There was a time when everyday life had a bit of art in it, and these vintage cartons are here to tell the tale.
I love the faded blue rendering of a nostalgic country scene on this one.
Sunday mornings and eggs just seem to go together. And I can almost hear the slapping of the screen door and the cackling of the chickens with the scent of fresh coffee in the air. . . .
I hope you enjoy these sunny egg cartons on parade!
Welcome to April!
I hope your day is farmhouse fresh!

What a lovely post.
ReplyDeleteI never gave it much thought to egg cartons - just glad we have alternatives to - gasp- horrible styrofoam, ugh!
I think your vignettes are lovely and the art of the one particularly beautiful.
Love the blue and white story.
Nice to have you "back," though you weren't gone that long, just seems that way to me, who admires your work so very much.
Sunday blessings be yours.
I love the artwork on something so simple as an egg carton. Your vignettes are pretty!

Jacqueline: How wonderful you have these egg cartons as a part of your collections. I remember the one especially with EGGS and picture of one chicken from my childhood. Hope you are having a wonderful weekend..Judy

How pretty!! I love the blue! Great post.
ReplyDeleteI honestly enjoyed this very original post. Such darling egg cartons; charming graphics in the most charming blue color. I also adore your blue china!!! Such a delight visiting you today ( and every day )
ReplyDeleteFun pics! My favorites show those beautiful brown eggs-Happy Easter Week:@)
ReplyDeleteI really love all the blue and white!!
ReplyDeleteThe graphics on those cartons are so sweet. And, of course, blue & white are near and dear to me. The quilt is a wonderful addition to the vignette!
ReplyDeleteThey are fabulous! I can't believe I've never seen vintage egg cartons before.
ReplyDeleteI have never seen vintage egg cartons before and am a little surprised that such things were able to survive! The drawings are so simple but beautiful. I do remember the old phone numbers, with the name of the neighborhood, then the last 5 digits. Linda
ReplyDeleteLove your photos! I'm trying to remember if I've ever seen vintage egg cartons. I'm 64, so I should have...lol.
ReplyDeleteWhy don't they make things like egg cartons with pictures any more. Nothing is ever so graphic. I suppose it all comes down to cost again, such a shame. Lovely pics.

I love looking at common ordinary things through the eye of your lens!
ReplyDeleteThose egg cartons have a very vibrant color and reach back to a simpler time...I recall seeing egg cartons with farm scenes depicted on them.
Thanks for sharing them!

Something about blue.. blue egg cartons, blue china... it just says BREAKFAST! The photos and the care you took in arranging them tell such a farmhouse story. Thank you for that. (By the way, I like using modern cardboard cartons as seed starters... once the seedlings appear, just cut the little cups apart and plant them in the ground. They degrade over time. Much cheaper than store-bought starter kits!)
ReplyDeleteAll your photos are lovely, but the brown egg in the white cup... so pretty. ...sigh.
ReplyDeleteA lovely original post for Easter.
ReplyDeleteOh my, these are wonderful egg cartons. Thanks so much for sharing them with us.

ReplyDeleteGreat post and of course, I love your blue and white -- very pretty cups and saucers! The egg cartons bring back memories -- egg cartons used to be so much nicer! The quilt is TDF as well!
