French cooking can include a lot of cream, but I love creamy dishes on the tabletop too.
I want to please the eye as much as the appetite, and creamy vintage plates and bowls really do it for me. When there are only a few of us at the table there are a lot of entertaining options in my mix and match china. Today it gets to be red transferware, and creamy French bowls.
I love informal family style dining. Place the napkins and flatware in the center, and everyone can find what they need. Big linen napkins are a staple.
I always love using my fat and heavy French ironstone bowls at the table.
I wish I had a dozen.
A darker lace runner defines the place-setting on top of the white matelasse tablecloth.
Another vintage lace runner dresses a wooden tray.
Ironstone jugs can serve water or drinks, but I just wanted them to look at. Without them there wouldn't be nearly enough of the creamy look I was after.

The blending of the white and cream (ecru) linens is magnificient! The soft hue of the red adds the passion for a romantic February tablescape, indeed.

Creamy AND dreamy!!! You always have such a way with these soft, ethereal colors. I love it! Those chunky bowls are fantastic. They have sort of a dual personality going on: chunky and hearty, yet the white lends to an airiness about them. Given a choice, I'll take the chunky kid every time! :-) I hope you are enjoying a warm and wonderful weekend!
