White Victorian Rooms

I recently toured the most beautifully furnished rooms in the Beehive House in Salt Lake City. Though not original to the home, the decoration is from the same period. Many of the sitting rooms were dressed in red, just coincidental with the Christmas season, as they are always that way. But of course I was most drawn to the gorgeous white decor.

It's so easy to imagine inhabiting such a lovely place, and always inspiring. I loved all the fine French antiques.

A harp in the music room.

Many wonderful crystal chandeliers lit the rooms.

A gorgeous hand-painted wardrobe with a matching chair.

Jeweled antique chandeliers.

A festive Christmas dining room echoes a happy holiday of the past.

Sumptuous lace falls from a guilded valance.

The gorgeous antiques seemed endless.

But I was even more impressed with the fine linens in the bedrooms. Yummy!

Did I love this basin and pitcher laid over snowy linen? Ah, yes. . . . I'm afraid I lagged behind all the other guests to snap these photos, and found it hard to move on.

Gorgeous quilts and bedding.

I love the tiny bed chambers best.

What a gracious time and place to have lived. But I would be thrilled to simply live next door!
Oh, dream on. . . .
Thanks so much for popping by in such a busy season!
Ciao! for now!

  1. Thanks for this beautiful post. This home is amazing. I love all the period lighting. The gold furniture is French and looks so pretty in the room with the marble mantle. I loved the dining room too. kinda reminds me of my old house. I love seeing other historic houses done up. Thanks and Merry Christmas. Richard from My Old Historic House.

  5. I am loving these post about Salt Lake City, Utah...my home sweet home. These pioneer homes were built and furnished so nicely..these people came from all over the world. Having heard the message of the gospel from missionaries from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, they left their homelands to come and be part of the building up of the church. My great great grandfather was one of them. He came from Scotland and he was asked to come with the first company, (with Brigham Young) as the wheelwright for the company. There were not hicks or hilly billies but learned people who brought their gifts, talents and crafts to build a home for the Mormons in Utah. Did you eat at the Lion house? Did you go see temple square? Oh, I hope you didn't miss that! :D
