I love the romance of cafe life. Even if the cafe has to be at home. The Paris cafe life of the twenties began when starving artists living in unheated flats gathered to the social scene found in cozy warm little cafe's with all the comforts of home. Like hot coffee.
In our new century, cheap coffee is more likely to be found at home! And who has time for talking literature, art, and philosophy these days anyway? Well, bloggers do. We just don't do it all at the same time or around the same table!
So when you do get the chance for friends and talk at your own place, where better than the kitchen table? Potterybarn has made an industry of the concept. Aren't we all here because we're all out of our minds for pretty table stuff?
Staples for the cafe scene are white linen napkins, and lots of hefty ironstone. I'm using my thick new found vintage striped tablecloth.
These tall vintage tumblers are the largest I've seen and are perfect for water or tea and are tucked into a wicker basket with the Pellegrino.
A vintage lidded creamware tureen for the main offering.
More hefty vintage linen for the tea towels. Everyone should have piles of these.
Johnson Bros. Asiatic Pheasant transferware teacups.
My wall plate fetish shows on my kitchen walls too. Spanish cafes sometimes have whole walls filled with hanging blue plates. So of course some of mine are souvenirs. Some of my white pitcher collection is housed here too.
Glad you stopped over!
Hurry back!
Ciao! for now!
Jacqueline

Your little cottage cafe is soothing and inviting me to linger to sip my coffee in one of your blue and white cups, and let my eyes feast on your lovely plate collections. Your vintage knives are most interesting. Everything photographed so beautifully.....love the oranges in their close-up.
ReplyDeleteLove your cottage cafe!! You have the prettiest table lines! Martina
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! These pictures look like they belong in a magazine spread. I love the quiet peacefulness of the colors. I really must get some more white pieces, they add such softness to pieces with color and pattern. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty...I love it all, but especially the little bust of the girl. You have put together so many textures, colors and patterns and they all compliment each other.
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are stunning and I love your kitchen (paris) cafe. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteLove your tumblers... I have similar ones :)
ReplyDeleteYour kitchen cafe delights me! I love it. In my little fixer upper cabin cottage I've started fixing up the kitchen area like a patio style cafe. Nothing fancy, just fun. The place is coming down except a couple of walls for rebuilding. I love reading your blog. Happy Wednesday!
ReplyDeleteI have the same tea cups. This is a beautiful tablescape.
ReplyDeleteYou make everything look so pretty, welcoming and calming. Can I visit your cafe? :) Thank you for post these gorgeous images, it's just what I needed.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day,
Anne xx
You have brought to life that cozy cafe look! You are so right about us bloggers doing the artsy thing together, yet apart. I always blog, coffee in hand.
ReplyDeleteLove your pretty dishes and linens. Beautiful post!
XO,
Jane

What a lovely cafe setting ~ I would love to come over for a cup! ;-)
ReplyDeleteJacqueline, your 'stuff' is great...could I come for coffee...I like it very strong with milk and preferably in a pretty cup and saucer...of which you have plenty...oh and a lovely linen napkin to catch the crumbs from the cake (the one you are going to bake me). Robx
ReplyDeletep.s. I must start collecting white ironstone...if I can find it!
Hi Jacqueline, pretty pictures! as much as my attention is the variety of "treasures" you own! every detail makes your home special, you know how to put every detail in place for us to "talk" Greetings, Rose Marie

Jacqueline, love your Paris cafe table, the tablecloth is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteYou have a way of zeroing in on exactly what it is we like and why we get together - what better way to visualize it than at one's kitchen table - or a cafe - so very inspired....
ReplyDeleteyou've got me thinking!

Hi Jacqueline~ Absolutely charming little cafe you have! :) Love your pretty table and that sweet tablecloth and your pictures are lovely!Thank you so much for sharing at FNF! :)
ReplyDeleteThis is the look I love, so reminiscent of a french cafe, minus the smokey air! Totally love the new tablecloth. Your plates in the kitchen are perfect and have given me an idea for when I finally rid the kitchen of it's hideous wall paper. Thanks for dropping in with your very kind comments.
ReplyDeleteBeautifully conceived and artfully executed. Thank you for sharing your lovely design. Cherry Kay
