My grandmothers were strong.
They followed plows and bent to toil,
They moved through fields sowing seed.
They touched the earth and grain grew.

I hear it almost everyday in my shop. The sentence that begins "My grandmother. . . ." It's enjoyable work connecting the past to each day.
And even more fun finding new uses for beautiful old things.
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Simply gorgeous! I too enjoy the customer's stories. I have learned so much about some of the items in the shop and made some nice new friends too!
ReplyDeleteI love seeing your pictures and wish I could stroll through the shop! I have so many of my grandmother's and mother's things, and it is joyful to find ways to use and display them1
ReplyDeleteAhhh grandmothers and great grandmothers etc...they found pleasure in such simple beauty and creating everything they had with their hands.
ReplyDeleteI always keep a picture of mine close by on the wall to remind me that loveliness is something we can create with patience and care!

Thanks for the lovely post. I thought of my grandmother as I looked at your pictures. I realize how much she has influenced the way that I decorate and my love for linens and vintage items. Time spent in my grandparents home was a time of peace for me.
ReplyDeleteYou always have such lovely vignettes! Your linens are so beautiful.

How lovely! Thank you for sharing your beautiful linens. I'm fortunate to have many antique linens as well, and I use them as often as possible. My way of connecting with the women who came before...I'm glad to "meet" another fan of these tangible pieces of women's history.
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful post! I luv the way you displayed everything and also like the garden chairs in front of your shop. Thank You for stopping by.....Julian

ReplyDeleteJacqueline, beautiful post as usual! What is the "basket" that the notecards, clothes pins, jar, and flower frogs are in? I can't quite tell...
