Victoria Magazine used to have a section in September called Camp Victoria. It's what made me want to visit the great camps in the Adirondacks which I have not yet done.
The Sept. 2000 issue featured The Canoe Club, and goes right along with my Tea and Victoria on the river this week!
I love the woods in the fall, and the romance of row boats on a lake.
But while hanging around on shore, my Hall gold-rimmed mugs are perfect for a hot drink.
They feature pheasant on one side and Mallards on the other.
And the outdoors enhances the pleasure of taking tea as well in fall as in the summer!
The afternoons are beautiful for birdwatching, leaf gathering, and reading a good book to the sound of the river.

So beautiful....my hubby's family owned a 3 acre island on Big Moose Lake in upstate NY. There was a huge 'camp' with a boathouse too. Such breathtaking views, antiques, deer feet and antlers for hooks (smile). It was sold a few years ago to a fella who is restoring it to it's former 1880 glory.

ReplyDeleteWe have been blessed with a little three acers of woods in north Fl. the Suwannee River is real close by and such a wonderful place to relax. These photos are great, my fisherman son-in-law would love the mugs. Great post.

ReplyDeleteWe enjoyed one of those hunter/fisher camps when we were on Lake of the Woods. The Smith Camp had a delightful dining room with antler chandeliers! It was so lovely and still outdoorsy, at the same time. The borders of Minnesota and Ontario meet on the lake.

ReplyDeleteLove, Love, Love this post and the previous one. I enjoy the outdoors, especially in the fall. I have always enjoyed fishing and have just "rediscovered" it with my son. Now the plan is to learn to be at least a "somewhat decent" fly fisherwoman by Christmas. These 2 posts just fueled my fire!!
ReplyDeleteI don't know why I haven't found you before! Your blog makes me want to go to the attic and pull every issue I own of Victoria Magazine. I have the premier issue, and like you, pulled every monthly issue out to enjoy the season. When we moved, they came in boxes and were stored carefully away until the day I could find a place to enjoy them. I think I will find that place today.
