Many Happy Returns!

Hello friends! I hope you are loving these first days of summer (June 8, 2023). I was just going through some old posts and picked one to edit. I wanted to make the photos larger. Once upon a time on blogger you could do that with old posts! That didn't work for me this time, and so I hit "publish" thinking the post would go back into the order of the cue where it was published originally. But that didn't happen either!

Life is short. So I am going to let this post replay out of order instead of spending the time to figure it all out. (Or delete it.) Will see it this works...

Enjoy this blast from the past, tiny photos and all.

My tribute to Victoria Magazine this week goes to the current issue.

I've heard it said that the new version isn't as good as the old.

I'm happy to report that if you removed the date from the recent Victoria you wouldn't be able to tell the difference!

In fact I enjoyed "The Charm of French Style" July/August issue so much I decided to do a photo tribute to it.

The current issue is full of cherries, red, summer whites and natural elements included on the side! So I pulled out all my vintage linens and china with those themes!

An white antique Wedgewood teacup and saucer.

The flamboyant cherries here are appliqued onto a vintage tea size tablecloth that I draped over a Euro size bed pillow. I realized while I was preparing this post that I have never stopped playing house!

My table is inspired by page twenty-one.

I love the feed sack pillow used with the bright red and whites on an outdoor bed on page twenty-nine.

I laid a white bed skirt on my lawn chaise under the trees and covered it with a lace throw.

A perfect place to peruse my favorite magazine!

I used to have a few more vintage cherry glasses. No matter-- these come in a variety of cheery patterns and can be found at thrift stores for a few cents each.

It's so much fun to go hunting for replacements!

If you love white . . .

If you love cherries . . .

If you love French . . .

If you love RED . . .

I know you will LOVE this issue of Victoria!

Thanks for stopping by my little corner of the world! Ciao! for now!

Jacqueline

  22. I have always Loved, loved, loved Victoria and I was happy to see it return (I cried like a baby when it stopped publication).
The only thing I prefer about the original was the outstanding photography of Toshi Otsuki. He had a gift for capturing an ordinary moment and imbuing it with a sense of wistfulness and loveliness that lingers with me still.
Your red and white table arrangement are gorgeous and I will be right over to have tea with you...:)

  35. This is so beautiful! I love it all: the cherries, that basket beehive thing, those adorable glasses, and all the linens, most especially the ones on your chaise. So, so gorgeous! I must rearrange where I have all my old Victoria issues stored so they're more acccessible. They're too beautiful to hide away! Thanks for a lovely, lovely post.

  52. I've recently been going through my old Victoria magazines, all they way back to 1989, and although there was a short period of time where they were not nearly as good, I agree with you that the current ones are pretty close and I love them all over again. Love your tribute photos, just lovely. I live in Traverse City, the Cherry Capital, so love those too!

  53. Personally, I like your photos better than theirs! Victoria should come do a photo shoot at your house!
