Feeling Fall

Early or late. The first rainy afternoon after the leaves begin to fall is filled with magic.

It would be a shame to be shopping or in traffic when a squall drives through, because peering through your own homey windows in the changed atmosphere is a delight.

A symphony of rain, thunder, and hail sweeps through, followed by the wonderful fragrance of sage and something minty.

The darkened sky leaves a shower of little round jewels behind as a token of what is to come in bleaker days. The flow of seasons is nature's gift, and I feel lucky to be at home today to receive it.

I will miss the heat rising from the warm earth, but who would want to be absent at the turning of the ivy?

Or to deny the first blush of a romance with autumn?

Thanks for joining in the rhapsody!
I hope it's turning onto a great week for you!

French Monograms & October Roses

This beautiful October morning brought a couple of surprises along with it. Two more gorgeous roses from the garden have made their way into our lives!

It seems that fall is finally on her way with cooler temps and the changing light.

We have been running around like crazy, and not really paying attention to the yard, but nature has a beautiful way of getting right up into the face of your busy days.

Along with a few other favorites, this great little rustic table gets its day in the sun for an autumn morning vignette at the window.

A different rose makes a lid handle on this vintage Rose Point sugar bowl (by Pope Gosser) sweetening things up a little.

And I brought over my new French momogram towels to highlight the beautiful stitching on the wonderful damask cloth.

Any monograms will suit, but these just happen to be those of Mr. Cottage! So fun when that happens.

Always a few of my collections hanging out over here too. I won the adorable French rush seat bench at an auction a few years ago. The cotton sheet on top of it came from a fleamarket this summer.

I love the hand worked edge.

A stack of ironstone bowls on a farmhouse bench makes a nest for an old washstand pitcher.

A French mustard jar lends to my fantasy of living in an old French farmhouse. . . .

Wishing you a dreamy fall weekend too!
Lots of catching up for me to do!

So nice that you stopped by!

October Garden

In addition to all the chasing hot air balloons, and the climbing. . .

We took time out for a few of the gentler pursuits during these fantastic October days with family.

We have a lovely city garden near the aquarium that takes on a softer look for fall.

We all meandered in our own direction over the peaceful grounds.

Taking in all the beauty that the last of the season has to offer. . . .

I am not much of a gardener so I can't tell you the names of many of these plants, but I do know gorgeous when I see it!

(The sign tells me these hugging vines are Chinese Wisteria)

(Wish I could nab these when they are all dried and done!)

Love this spectacular fountain in this Mediterranean style garden space.

Love the mums in bushel baskets all over the park.

Such a lovely time of year!

 Breaking the fun meter!

I hope it's a great weekend ahead for you too!
