White Mornings

January always finds me with a huge appetite for white. Maybe after all the holiday intensity, and all of the visual delight, my eye is ready for a rest. More likely it's the light pouring into my dining room first thing in the morning that's responsible! It's more of a wake up to me than any cup of coffee.

And the light never shines more beautifully than it does at the morning of the year when the sun rises earlier each day and January begins to keep the promise of a coming spring.

So I often pause a bit to appreciate the gift. The new light on my old things in the early day. Even as it passes quickly away. . . .

I hope your new week has started out well!
I am elbow deep into my new projects of the year.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
I am still getting around to visit you when I can!

My Shabby's Have Arrived

When I visited Rachel's L.A. shop in November, the items I wanted were on backorder. I had almost forgotten about them when they arrived on Christmas Eve! It was almost like getting a surprise present from myself! I found it hard to photograph up close, but you can see my bottle rack displayed in the center of the photo above.

Vintage glassware was displayed on it in the shop, and it had the best price I have seen for one its size.  Done deal! A reproduction of course.

The possibilities are endless, but I tried my own glassware first!

I'm seeing teacups on it too.

You may also remember this luscious bedding I fell in love with before I ever went inside. Such a beautiful print! I got a set of the lovely teal pillow shams. So dreamy!

Shabby Chic linens come in a sweet little pouch with wonderful detail. Maybe I will use it for packing when I travel.

Here's a closeup of the tailored flange of the shams. I haven't had a chance to do up my bed yet, but I think I'm going to mix the shams with a pink striped duvet from RA's Target line, Simply Shabby Chic. Can't wait! Sometimes gifts to yourself are the best! haha!

I hope you're enjoying your week!

Happy January!

Happy New Year friends! It's probably been the longest holiday season on record for us. We got started early with the decorating and then got sick. Most of the family was under the weather for Christmas too. But everything was jolly anyway. Everyone just left only two days ago, but before they  departed my DIL and I went out and shopped a few flea markets.

Now, you know it's going to be a good year when one of the first things you find is the blue bird of happiness!

This is a rare find around here, and it was half off! The handmade lace trimmed linen tablecloth was a beautiful find too.

This lovely stack of ironstone plates are from the shop of a Danish friend who sends for things from home. She always has gorgeous linens too.

One of my favorite patterns. I love the little vanilla looking flecks in the glaze, and of course the gorgeous embossed edges. Thank you Karina! I love your little shop.

I don't have the doll to fit this dress we found at another fleamarket. It's tiny. But it will make the most adorable decoration somewhere.

A little vintage pinny for the bears turned up too!

Believe it or not, one of the best gifts I received this year, or ever, was a big box of these dried hydrangeas from Santa Barbara. My brother in law, and Master Gardener, Richard gathered these up for me, and he and his wife sent them on in a huge, well wrapped box in the mail.

Hydrangeas do not thrive in our dry climate, and I have had hydrangea envy for as long as I can remember! What a thrill!

Wonderful in my chippy zinc bucket.

I hope everything's off to a wonderful start for you too! I have been mostly a lurker for the past month, and I'm looking forward to catching up with you. Thank you so much for stopping by with all your kind comments and good wishes!
