weekend wanderings

I'm just sharing a little of my weekend wanderings today. A little visiting, a little shopping. a little dinner out, and a little star gazing. . . .

A little later I'll be hanging out with MAD MEN. . . . So, what else is new?
How has your weekend blossomed so far?
Hope you get time for some bliss!

A Simple Spring Tablescape

There's always plenty to celebrate in Spring! In addition to Easter it is the beginning of birthday season at our place. One right after the other.

With so much going on I like to keep things simple for a festive table. Today it's my usual dried bunches, and fabric rose napkin rings by Rachel Ashwell. Potterybarn napkins are from a couple of summers ago.

I like natural colored eggs best. Our "girls" lay them in all shades of brown. Here they are cradled in a small ironstone tureen.

I love collecting ironstone, and use it as often as I can. Each setting here is different.

Vintage glassware with square bases for contrast.

A lacy white cloth plays up the rustic touches.

While all the exuberant color of Spring is popping outdoors, this table might be quiet enough for even a bunny to come hopping by. . . .

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Change Up For Sweet Spring Dreams

Fortunately all you need to change the mood of a bedroom is to change the bedding! I've put on a flowery quilt to celebrate the beginning of spring.

I've mixed a few lacy vintage linens in with a few more recent touches. The quilt is an old purchase from Pinecone Hill, and the Euro shams and throw pillow you may recognize from Rachel Ashwell.

No matter what colors you use as a base, white is always going to crisp things up for a nice fresh feeling. Here I am using a couple of mis-matched pure linen vintage pillow slips with hand worked lace edging.

A set of plain linen pillowcases, and another vintage crocheted pair stand by for when I want to freshen everything up without changing the whole bed.

Ready for sweet spring dreams. . . .

It's time to take in a bit of spring air and hang the laundry on the line.
Delicious!

Have a great day!

Pretty Postage~How Long Is Forever Exactly?

I broke away long enough from my tax forms to find that the US post office long ago designed a custom stamp for me. Well, in 2011 anyway. Where have you been all my life?

The old saying "nothing lasts forever" is no longer true! The white roses stamp has "Forever" emblazoned on it, and will serve faithfully as long as the P.O. delivers mail. Honestly, if I were designing my own stamp, this is exactly what it would look like. Finding it was like a sweet little bouquet in the midst of a hair pulling task. . . .

I had to go find a bunch more old-fashioned things to go with them. . . .

Happy Spring! It's official now.
I'm off to write a pretty letter!
I hope you're enjoying an old-fashioned moment or two this week.
And don't forget to stop by Kathleen's for
and Kim's for
