Finding Beauty

Image may contain: people sitting, table and indoor

Hello friends! This post with shots of my Cabin & Cottage shop space was made possible by the excellent photos of my lovely friend and shop partner, Celeste, of Cielo Heavenly Home Decor. Check out her exciting FB page for more wonderful photos of our little shop in Albuquerque.

These recent days have brought as many lemons as lemonade to distract me, but I have been loving our summer days and nights and the company of good friends and loved ones through it all.

I came across a good and wise quote to share.

"When life is sweet, say thank you and celebrate. And when life is bitter, say thank you and grow."
Shauna Niequist, Bittersweet: Thoughts on Change, Grace, and Learning the Hard Way

To clear my head and help my heart rate, I take early morning walks in our cool open fields to see the hot air balloons always soaring aloft, and just yesterday took to our mountains close by for the fresh air and wide vistas. I have taken up the good and useful motto in another quote I recently came across which says in part, "Live in the present and make it beautiful."

A life surrounded by lovely vintage treasures always lends itself to that! I am working a much smaller space these days, which brings a challenge of its own to keep things fresh. But my camera and I are still not spending much time together. To every thing there is a season. (Thanks once again, Celeste!)

I hope you too are finding fulfilling ways to spend your summer days. There always seems to be too much rain or too much heat for people somewhere. And that's just speaking of the weather!

But as always,
I hope you are finding beauty in your days.

I am loving it. Quite a slug; I do a few piddly things and nap... My garden is gorgeous and needs tending, but it should just appreciate all the watering it gets. Looks pretty. I love those marble lamps. I seem to have a thing for lamps, though I don't turn them on often. It does set the scene though.

Oooh, so many pretty things to look at in the shop! Love your quotes. Summer is busy and when the weather doesn't cooperate, well, it's disappointing. But like the quote says, "Live in the present and make it beautiful." It was lovely to see all the pretties in your shop. I especially like the frame in the last photo and the pitcher. Thanks for sharing and enjoy the rest of your week.

Oh how I wish I lived closer to shop your beautiful booth. I bet those morning walks with the hot air balloon overhead and the crisp air is heavenly. I am loving these summer days too. Have a great day today.

Your shop looks wonderful, such an arrangement of vintage goodies. Love the vibe...and would love to visit, though it's 1400 miles away or so. Please keep posting!

Hope August brings you less lemons, and even more beauty. Colorado is dry --- please send us an Albuquerque low with some moisture -- looking forward to Colorado monsoon season! Take care, Sally

Hi Jacqueline. Your shop looks beautiful. You really do have an eye for picking the right items. Wish I could shop there. I can just imagine the walk with the hot air balloons overhead. There is a beach in Monterey that have those same kinds of views. We are really hot here but not with humidity, thank heavens! Keep making lemonade and I will be at the beach for awhile, thinking cool thoughts..Happy Thursday..Judy

It's certainly beautiful and peaceful in your shop and I'm hoping the "lemon" part of the summer is coming to an end. I'm a tad worried about you. Celeste certainly captured all the beauty you share. I see a pitcher I would probably walk off with if I were in your world. Sending love your way.

How I wish I was close enough to browse in person. You have drool worthy things that I would so want to take home. One day again I must come to New Mexico. We just touched the surface with our visit last year. Take care! Here we are having much heat and I plan to escape this weekend and go to the sea.
