Old China & White Roses

We are a long way from rose weather here in New Mexico, but I noticed forsythia blooming on my neighborhood walk yesterday. And many trees are beginning to bud. But many of you are still blanketed in snow and cold! A lot of people associate the color white with cold and sterile. But it just doesn't have to be that way!

The trick to keeping white cozy is to have lots of texture and to use more objects together. I love a spare look for warmer weather, but the colder climates need a lot more more cushy surfaces and visual interest indoors. Here are a few of the ways I keep white cozy in winter.

Just a few vintage linens go a long way toward making things homey. . . .

Creamy dishes are wonderful for serving soups and stews.

I love a mix of patterns in the white china collections that I use every day. All the linen and china displayed in this post are vintage.

I seem to save bright colored roses for spring and summer too. Whether in a bouquet, on china, or as a motif on linen, white roses just seem made for decorating tables!

I hope it's a cozy White Wednesday for you!
Thanks so much for stopping by.

Jacqueline

  6. Pretty pretty pretty!

Horrible snowstorm this am - hubs slid into a guardrail on his way to work. Better now, stopped snowing and they've cleared the roads. I am closing my eyes and envisioning Forsynthia blooming on a walk - golly, what a nice thought.

J, have you thought of hosting a linky party White Wednesday? I forget who used to, but she stopped a long time ago and no one else picked it up. I would be I don't know how and don't know if I am dependable right now with daughter's wedding planning going on. I vote for YOU - you have the purdiest whites in blogdom! And you needn't even post yours every week, start with yours the first time and after that pick features of others' posts after that - easy, yes?

    Hugs.
