Back in the Saddle

I'm just back from a rugged trip to the grand Grand Canyon with family!

All enthusiasm and smiles at the outset . . .

and a bit bored and downright wigged out at the end!

High noon at Meteor Crater NM.

No way to capture the grandeur of the Canyons with my little point and shoot.

We didn't think to anticipate the massive crowds at the national park. But these are all just more of our own people!

We all stayed at a very nice KOA in Williams, an hour away from the canyons.

Visited the two nice wildlife attractions nearby. . . (In the rain!)

And even managed to get in a little antiquing! Lonesome Dove is the only antiques shop in Williams, and so appropriately named.

Just after snapping these pics we got soaked to the bone in a cold, hard, sudden mountain downpour while loading up the car.

Williams is a darling little town on old route 66.

But my own little house missed me while I was gone! And I came home to beautiful red birthday roses. Happy Birthday to me!

Good to be back Home Sweet Home. . . .

I'll be catching up to ya'll real soon.
But still so much summer to fit in!

Hope you have a great week!
Thanks for popping in!

Jacqueline

  1. Your camera did a fine job--looked quite grand!! What a trip!! And what a surprise to get a cold, wet drenching! Photos up to that point looked mighty hot and dry! No place like home, especially your beautiful one! Glad you're back, safe and sound!

    1. I usually have a bit of a reluctance to get away because I'm such a homebody. But once I'm gone I easily leave it all behind. The Grand Canyon is so worth the effort. I hope you get there soon, Marilyn!

  11. Happy Birthday Jacqueline, as for the Grand Canyon trip how exiting to see your travels. Back in the 70's I live on the south rim of the Grand Canyon, my step dad was building the heliport for there helicopter tours and working on a big Hotel. We ended up there for a little over 2 years, it was quite a change to conserving water, and the traveling it took to shop the closest town, as well as entertainment, but the locals became our friends and there culture was what we adopted while our stay :)
I often viewed the canyon by air, and donkey, I also worked a small job there and became quite fond of all it offered in Indian jewelry.

So many memories flushed in seeing this post from you.
And also happy to see you were welcomed home with red roses.

    1. How wonderful that you lived there! It all has such a wonderful spirit about it. Only it has become so crowded now. A helicopter tour would be fantastic! Thank you so much for the Birthday wish!
