The Lighter Side of Fall

It's a delicious dark morning here. I haven't checked the weather report lately so was surprised by a gentle drizzle overnight. The neighborhood has suddenly broken out into gorgeous color along the river. Nature is so kind to unfold her changes a little day by day to prepare us for what lies ahead. Or maybe it's just to prolong the delights. . .

I snapped this photo a few days ago as the morning sun hit the lace curtains and cast a soft light on the baby pumpkins which have become a new tradition.

These vintage nut bowls are hand painted, and only about three inches in diameter.

I am thinking a lot about our trip to New England last fall, and these rooms in the home of Robert Frost.

A good day to bundle up with a book, a cup of tea, and a few memories of autumn past. . . .

I hope you're enjoying fall wherever it takes you!

Beautiful pictures. It is raining and a chill in the air here. If I was not babysitting I would curl up with a cup of tea and read a book today. She is asleep right now and the house is so quite.

I love all your pumpkin pictures. What is the china pattern of the bowls with the acorns inside. They are so pretty with the aqua outside. Enjoy your weekend.

It is funny how fall sneaks up on us. The first weeks of October were HOT with a sparkling ocean and then yesterday we work to a hazy sky and cooler air. The heater is on and I am thinking soup might be a project for today.

All of your photos are lovely.

As always lots of lovely photos. The pretty little acorn bowls would look even more Autumnal with a handful of real acorns. Not sure if you have them where you live !

I'm really taken with those pretty lace curtains. Nothing dresses up a window more than lace, and dare I say, maybe a cat. :)

My today's favorite photo is of the church in Vermont. Usually this is a very hard choice. Your photos are always exquisite. The photo of the church is magnificent. Love the overcast sky.

Jacqueline,
You always have the prettiest collection of vintage items and your creativity at arranging them in such a pleasing manner is genius! Always lovely. I enjoyed your New England photos as when I think of fall, New England for some reason is the essence of fall in all it's beauty.
It has turned suddenly very cold here with light snow a couple days, while our neighbors to the north in Cleveland got dumped on. Our fall had been so warm up to this point, that even the leaves refused to turn color, but I'm sure the last couple nights of frost will hasten that along.
Happy weekend to you too and thank you so much for coming by to visit.
