French Country

In my heart, I am always in the heart of France. And a few little props always help me with the illusion. I came across a few china plates this week that had me hearing French music and wanting French food.

Bouquets of carnations.

There are charming variations in the patterns, as you can see here.

The little pewter bunny mustard jar always seems perfect for a spring table.

The bistrot glassware is a vintage mix. But you don't have to wait to get lucky. Rachel Ashwell has a new line that is quite similar to the pattern in front. I may have to order some!

A local Italian restaurant serves water from these faceted bottles and agreed to sell me some.

The monogrammed hand towels used for napkins are also from France. The linen stripe towel in the basket is William-Sonoma. Plain white vintage linen on the table. When the weather is nicer we can carry it all out to the lawn!

It's official no matter what's going on with the weather.

Happy Spring to you!

Jacqueline

I have never seen plates like that, how unique and lovely!

    Yes, spring is official tomorrow.

The sun came out today and boy has it made a difference in our moods around here. One more day of gloomy gus and I was ready to pack a suitcase and fly away and leave everything and everyone hanging in limbo, I kid you not!

  29. Hi there, Jacqueline!!!!!!! I'll bet these dishes DID have you longing for the beautiful country! (I always play my "Something's Gotta Give" CD when I'm feeling like that! Did you see that movie? Love it! And love the music!!!) I see that Kathy identified the flowers as carnations, but it really does look like carnations and poppies got together and had a baby! The plates are gorgeous! I really like the detailing along the rim. Something else I really, really like it that bird cage. That is cool!!! It has such a rustic feel to it! The linens look crisp as bacon!!! Wow! I hope the weather warms up nicely for you soon so that you can get outside, soak up some sunshine, close your eyes, and go to Paris in your mind! Have a good weekend, and thank you so much for stopping by my place earlier! I appreciate it! Take care!
