Not Exactly Hallmark

When you care enough to send the very best . . . don't do this! This being recycling used shopping bags into gift wrap.

This barely disguised logo makes just a bit of a difference when dressed up with a  paper doily, and serves well enough for a casual occasion. You could dress it up further if you like, but that's sort of missing the point.

These packages are destined for a casual ladies get together of intimate friends who are all dealers and thrifters. They will get it.

I keep all the plain, sturdy, and nice looking bags from high end shopping places. Believe me you have paid for them! Why not put them to use? I'm not successfully hiding the original source here, just making it a little more presentable, and also making it clear that the gift is not from that particular store.

A  paper flower attached is good camouflage too. . . .

You just have to not mind giving away all your shopping secrets! *smile* Oh well!
Happy Monday ya'll!

Jacqueline

  3. I have recycled bags for years. So many of the shops I visit use brown bags and I can cover up their logo so easily.

The Williams Sonoma logo actually looks really nice whitewashed with the doily.

  5. Hey, I am ALL about reusing, re-purposing and keeping the landfills free of perfectly wonderful items like this - to use again.

I think if you did graphics fairy and printed your own monogram and put it on them that would be cheap n easy upgrade on top of that doilie or a hand cut burlap heart glued on. = ?

  11. Jacqueline,
I love the look of your recycled shopping/ "gift" bags, dear friend!!!
My son is the main cook at his home. For Christmas each year, I just use a big poofy green bow to tie on his Williams ~ Sonoma bag. He loves it!!!
Even if it isn't W ~ S inside...I'd love receiving a bag dressed in this finery!!! EnJOY your day with the Ladies!!!
    Fondly,
    Pat

  14. Those bags are so pretty, Jacqueline. What a lovely idea. In many cases retail bags are much sturdier than regular gift bags. I keep a collection of them on hand and enjoy reusing them, too.

  17. I'm soooo with you. I always save my pretty bags, and reuse them over and over. I love the brown bags with the handles, and even more the white bags with the handles. Sometimes i even get brown and white striped bags with handles, oh how i love them. There is no way i wouldn't use them again, they are too wonderful! Of course you made yours so completely charming... love the idea with the doilies and the paper flowers. I think i have a thing for nice paper like i do for fabric and lace!
