Picture Postcards

When you have strong sunlight most days of the year, an overcast day can feel quite gentle. Somehow quieter even though nothing else has changed.

It certainly draws me outdoors, and makes me dream of English Roses and botanical gardens. We have one single bloom for cheer from our own small collection of shrubs.

There is even the promise of a soft drop or two. The welcome suggestion of rain at the very least. Until it does, I'll keep busy putting together a mental souvenir. My picture postcards of the last days of another lovely summer passing by. . . .

  14. What is it about the thought of a gentle summer rain that makes us think of an English country garden. Your pictures are lovely. It has been a bit cooler here, which has allowed us to enjoy the outdoors more in these last days of summer.

  22. My dear Jacqueline, Another summer has gone but it seems like the sun has gone quite a long time ago if one lives in the northerly places. But today in an atmosphere of sunny indolence, I thoroughly enjoy reading this post about soft linens, laces and elegant rosy dishes and china cups.
