Bride's Dream Roses

I hardly recognize my own blog. This is my garden. And these are my roses. To you it may seem like a small thing. But this is the first spring of my entire life that I have spent so much time working in my own garden. And I am no spring chicken, my dears. Cluck, cluck.

These pink babies are "Bride's Dream" and arrived from the nursery just today along with a couple of foxglove plants.

These two blooms broke off on the trip home, so they get to be our first cut roses of the season.

"Camelot Lavender" foxglove. My DH tells me these grow along the roadside in Oregon. Imagine!

This nearly spent rose bloomed while we were gone, as did just a few others. Now we can settle in and watch the show!

"Camelot Rose" foxglove.

I did manage to uncover a metal name tag for this rose called "Candy Stripe." Can that be right? I've never seen stripes on the few roses from this bush before.

More coming on. We'll see.

This sweet bush was the first to bloom. I posted the first bud before our graduation trip.

I'm realizing that you have to have tons of bushes to really have a cutting garden, and also bushes that keep blooming throughout the summer. But what a joy just a tiny garden can bring. I never want to go inside!

There are tons of these floribundas coming on.

Thanks so much for all your kind congratulations to our graduating son. We had a wonderful family celebration. After a whole day on our own with a three and a five year old we're a lot more limber than when we left! Haha! Have a wonderful week!

  1. Jacqueline, you garden is exquisite. Only Knockout Roses growing here, and they aren't cutting roses. I do have a friend with a rose garden, and I'm going to share the names of these with her. Love the delicate pink ones. Glad you had a good trip, and congratulations to the graduate.

  15. Absolutely beautiful. I love both roses and foxglove but can't grow them in my garden. We have far too much shade for roses and, for some reason, my foxglove don't seem to last. Your flowers are breathtaking.

  16. Goodness what gorgeous roses! The brides dream rose is so beautiful and my kind of rose! I will have to look for that one! I had some lovely David Austin roses when we lived in Alamogordo- I think NM is the perfect weather for roses. Here in Colorado it is a bit different - have 6 David Austin roses so far but they don't take off as well as they did down south!

Oh my your foxgloves!! Any hints on these flowers- have tried to grow but I keep killing them! Do you plant them from seed?

I just noticed you live in Albuquerque!! My niece lives there and we get down there now and again - she just had a new little one so my sis goes to watch Annabelle and I try to meet her there to spend some sis time when I can.

  17. Jacqueline, your roses are breahtaking! Hubby and I are getting an area ready for a rose garden. It is almost complete. Can't wait to start planting. I think the Candy Stripe tag is mislabeled. I'm pretty positive they are red and white. Still, the rose is gorgeous. Congrats to your son and on your newly found limberness. lol! My Foxgloves are not blooming yet. They are among my favorites.
    Hugs,
    Jann

  19. Oh how I long for a garden! I have crappy soil and we are gone most of the summer months to shows (no one to water). One of these I will have a garden!

Your blooms are lovely and the fruits of your labor are showing off!

  26. Hello Jacqueline,
Exquisite roses - I just love Foxglove too - but, for some reason they don't do well in my garden! I'm going to figure that one out because there's nothing like them!
    Loved visiting your garden today,

  29. Your roses are breathtaking! And I adore foxglove, but haven't had luck with it. Maybe I'll give it a try again this year. Still another 3 weeks until we can plant in northern MN. :(

  31. The garden looks beautiful, Jacqueline. And your beautiful roses in the jar are proof that you don't need a lot of flowers or a large space to enjoy a cutting garden. I have tiny nosegays throughout the house right now with violets, lily of the valley, tiny pieces of phlox, and sprigs of "Pot o' Gold". I so enjoy all the lovely pictures you post. They always make me feel as if we've just had a lazy, garden-drenched visit!

  32. I have Rose envy right now.. and 7 rose bushes that do not produce such beautiful roses!
Wonderful shots to say the least!

  33. What a lovely shade of pink - just perfect! I have been working in my gardens more than usual since I'm not painting furniture anymore. It is such a joy to watch everything grow and bloom and come into some sort of order. Makes my heart happy. My roses aren't blooming yet, but it should be soon.
