Like most everyone else I'm thinking of things Irish this week. In Ireland we learned that St. Patrick's Day is celebrated differently than in America. Correct me if I'm wrong!
I like to get out and hear a bit of Irish music and sip a Harp or Guinness for fun, but these days that is VERY optional. But I do like to remember my Irish roots, and for me that is more about literature and Irish lace.
My mother was a Kelley, and I heard my uncle call her that most of my life. Never by her first name. The other side of the equation is that Mr. Cottage and I met at the university the semester we both took a class on James Joyce, the reknown Irish writer. The Dubliners brought us together.
So Happy St. Patrick's Day people! I've gathered up a few of my favorite Irish things to share, starting with this linen cloth with shamrocks embroidered on it.
It seems a good time to gather up a few vintage Irish linen damask napkins, still in mint condition.
Nothing like that soft linen sheen!
Just beautiful when the light catches the pattern.
A wee bit of handmade Irish Lace.
Finally a lovely piece of all white Belleek porcelain. Its mark in the traditional green.
I hope you're having as much fun finding your Irish this week!
