Tulle & Lace & Powdered Sugar

I'm happy to report that I've had a rendezvous with my glue gun. I've had it I don't know how many years now, and I finally used it for something. I came across yards and yards of this wide flat lace this week for three dollars, and decided to use it with gift wrap. A few dots of the melty stuff, and we're good to go!

I love a white Christmas. The kind you put together yourself with twinkle lights, and your usual white collections dressed up for the season.

I don't pick a day, or give myself a deadline for decorating. I don't have rules for when to start or stop.

I just find myself gradually surrounded by symbols of the season, like prettily wrapped presents. I'll think "where is the Christmas Village?" or that pile of twiggy wreaths? I enjoy a quiet unfolding.

White does what it does best in any season. It reflects light, calms and soothes, energizes, feeds the soul. Add the sparkle, and it dazzles.

Some of us never left the fanciful part of Yuletide behind, but only adapted it for grown ups,

turning the holiday into the fairyland of our choosing with tulle and lace and powdered sugar. . . .

I hope you're headed for a wonderful weekend!
Ciao! for now!

  2. Hello, Jacqueline!

I am loving the idea with the found lace. I love to use paper lace doilies wrapped around my gifts - I think I may have gleamed this idea from Victoria mag years ago. I love your pink transferware cupboard, too! It is inspiration for a Christmas vignette in my home this year, so THANK YOU!

    I always enjoy my visit.

  6. The gift is SO pretty, Jacqueline!! I love the lace. I love the pretty bust behind it, reading the book.

I tried wrapping with brown paper last year and it was so difficult to work with. What did you use?

    Have a great evening!

    XO,
    Jane

  8. Dear Jane: The paper is a roll of actual gift wrap from my stationary store around the corner! If you look closely you will see a stripe in it. It wraps as easily as any other gift paper. I'm sorry I can't tell you the manufacturer, I didn't notice before I tossed the packaging, but it may be a common one. I even looked along the border as some paper companies will print it there. Sorry! But I'll keep an eye out for you! Thanks as ever for the wonderful feedback! J.

  11. I like your way of thinking about Christmas. Even as adults there can still be the magic although it does evolve over time.
The parcel has a nice vintage/feminine look.

  12. I love how you think my dear! I love to decorate with white no matter the season. I never know what will make me start the process of holiday decorating, but like you I have no deadline, because it is a way for me to celebrate just as much as the carols and sweets and gifts. I adore the package wrapping...beautiful idea Jacqueline.
