Marigold Days

The changeable weather gives us a chance to get used to the change in the season. After our first one quilt night it's going to be very warm again. Our state fair has started, and I'm wanting candy apples and Indian frybread. We don't go very often any more, but I think it's time for a visit this year. For now, we'll just enjoy being on the lawn for as many warm evenings as we have left on the calendar.

Fall flowers are so vibrant, and it's the one time of year I enjoy the blast of orange and yellow in flowers. I have a mix of a few sunflowers and marigolds for my centerpiece.

Love the ruffles!

I'm using leafy green trimmed plates and white to balance out the color.

I'm feeling a little mad tea partyish this late in the season. And sunflowers make everything perky.

Place cards in the bottom of the cups are bird tags from Cavallini & Co.

This is the reverse side of my postage stamp quilt. I love using quilts on tables.

I hope you're enjoying these Marigold Days too!
Ciao! for now!

Jacqueline

  1. I am enjoying these marigold days too. Your table is very pretty with the orange and yellow and the beautiful quilt. I have a small bouquet of artificial orange marigolds that I just got out of storage tonight and they look quite real. I'm having fun adding some orange, gold and yellow to my decor. Enjoy!

  3. Jacqueline, seeing this post has made even more excited about summer! I don't normally like our hot Aussie summers (I imagine they would be hot like yours?) but after the dreadfully cold winter we experienced this year I am so excited about it! I think I might take tea out on the deck today after reading this!

    Best wishes,
    Natasha.

  8. Hi J,
Beautiful table, and I like you don't "do" yellow and orange much, but who can resist sunflowers, and their happy faces :-D

  19. Greetings Jacqueline - and how nice of you to visit me and my whimsey teatime today over at The Writer's Reverie. I thoroughly enjoyed your tea on quilts and the blast of orange and ruffles in your marigolds! So vibrant and crisp your photos are!

I lived in Albuquerque for two years in the late 1980's - loved it there - but I suppose much has changed. Wonder if our friends at the time - we were all mid-20-somethings starting families with toddlers in tow - wonder if they're all still living there and how their kids have grown.

    Joy!
    Miss Kathy
