French Jacquard Towels

I'm crazy about museum shops because they are a complete original. You see things to buy there that you never see any place else.

There are the usual art books, posters, and postcards, of course. But often much more.

This time I found these luscious jacquard towels by the French manufacturer MARAT d' Avignon.
The de Young Museum, where I purchased these, has the gift shop listed online, but I didn't see the towels there. I guess you can come to SF if you want some!

I thought they looked terrific with my SIL's large round Wedgewood transferware platter.

I'm still on the Tader Joe's graphics kick too. The reds in the paper wine bags just spoke to me.

"Life is too short to drink bad wine!"

Now I just have to figure out what to cook to show off the new goods! Ideas anyone?
Ciao! for now!

Jacqueline

  8. Beautiful towels Jacqueline! I love the simple elegance a good tea towel brings into the kitchen. I have a few like that that were my great-grandmothers and I keep them a box. I frequently take them out and run my hands over them, and think of her!
Lovely post.....have a wonderful holiday weekend Jacqueline!

  9. How could a simple tea towel be so luscious! They are too pretty to wipe dishes with, but I like your idea of using them as a placemat! Genius as always!

  14. these are just beautiful, Jacqueline...i love tea towels and would love to get my hands on a couple of these...i have quite a collection, but the problem is they are so wonderful that i never seem to want to actually use them...i keep a pristine pair at the ready when guests are coming, but other than this i haven't figured out how to use or display mine so i can at least visually enjoy them. Any ideas?...yours are so great that they might look good framed and hanging on a kitchen or breakfast room wall???
