Vintage Print Tablecloths

I think of these tablecloths as Summer prints, and only use them in the growing season. Spring, summer, and a bit in fall.

I'm sure they were used year round. As clotheslines were as well, of course.

But mine will soon be put away, and I will opt less for a breezy morning at the back fence.

Almost all of my 50's print tablecloths show their steady function in a household. They have stains and wear that clearly demonstrate their daily cheery presence at the center of busy lives. But they still have a few miles to go.

For now they'll get a final airing, and a photograph or two, as one season marches on to another. . . .

Wishing you a last few sunny wonderful days in August!
May all our storms soon pass.

Ciao! for now!
Jacqueline

  10. Hello Jacqueline, often in silence enjoy your beautiful treasures that are a reflection of your life. Today, these cloths have taken me an expression of amazement, for I bring back memories of my youth, are so varied, you have a nice collection of these. I miss those times when dried outdoors, everything is so different today! My grandmother washed her bedding was always white and tended outdoor see only rows of clothes on Sunday in the courtyard. Remembering is live! Thanks for sharing your treasures, "Greetings from the Caribbean, Rose Marie

  11. I love tablecloths, new, heirlooms and vintage, like yours...they're all gorgeous, wish I had them all, a lovely collection! Brings memmories of my mother in the 50's and the linens and beddings in the line, now I don't think anyone does that in the US, here in Ecuador people still do that in they're back yards and I love to see it from our 14th. floor pant house. Hope you have time, I just posted a tablescape with a vintage tablecloth. Lots of hugs. FABBY

  13. Hi Jacqueline!
There is just something, unspeakably wonderful about the look and the feel of vintage tablecloths. The fabric has a certain patina and look that just cannot be duplicated.

Your collection and display on the clothes line looks lovely.

  14. You have some lovelies. I use many a thing stained from use as I would have to get rid of my whole house if I tossed all the things we get messy.

  15. How I wish for a clothesline like yours to dry my linens. Beautiful collection of tablecloths and I agree, my light coloured summery ones will soon be packed away and the darker colours will come out once again.
