Soothing Summer White

Whenever I'm having frenetic days I reach for white. It's my 5:00 happy hour, and calms me faster than you can say "margarita"!

It's also the coolest thing for a hot summer day next to an icy drink. But you could indulge both impulses with this vintage black and white enamelware pitcher.

I went to the florist for peonies and found them. But when it came right down to it, the globe mums are what came home with me. It was really the white that I needed.

Another thing I love about white is how it highlights textures and details without the distraction of color. Sometimes I need the sense of harmony too.

So I'm serving my farmhouse pitcher straight up on a bed of lace. A few graphics thrown into the mix keeps things lively, and punctuates the bit of black on the handle. Black and white keeps things crisp. No need for white to be boring.

I hope your're having a spectacular Summer White Wednesday!
Ciao! for now!

Jacqueline

  1. I recall those pitchers from my childhood. You could hold the side of it against your cheek and it always seemed cool.

  2. You cannot ever show us anything boring...you do not know how. The pitcher is simple, functional, and yet beautiful. I would rather have it on the table than cut crystal most days.

  6. Very beautiful and soothing, as you said. But we did not even make it to 70 today, so it's not the heat we need a refresher from, but the grey! And your white does it perfectly! Kay
