Classic Ivory Wedgewood & French Bistro Glasses

If this setting looks familiar, you've been following my blog a long time and paying close attention. My spring patio is where I first staged this tablescape with my vintage Wedgewood china.

I've loved the pattern, Queens Ware, since the first time I saw it in a magazine, and bought it the first time it crossed my path. There was a very long wait in between.

Here, it is set up for a patio buffet with simple linen napkins by Williams Sonoma, and vintage flatware. Globe chrysanthemums center the table in an ironstone urn.

The lid to the urn is shown with a few pieces of dinnerware, and highlights how wonderfully it all mixes together.

French import bistro glasses bring a few fun graphics to the setting.

The highly textured plates stacked on top of a cake stand look much like a confection.

This white on white embroidered vintage linen topper adds even more subtle detail.

But the matelasse table cover steals the show.

So glad you stopped by for a peek!
Ciao! for now!

  1. SO gorgeous! I adore the linens as well, but the dishes are stunning! I still kick myself for not purchasing the nearly full set of vintage Wedgewood I found in a small town junk shop on a road trip... the woman knew Wedgewood was a name, so she was selling the seventy piece set for $150 instead of the usual $50. My boyfriend talked me out of buying "a bunch of old dishes that didn't go with anything we had" but I have never forgotten about it. *sigh*

Live and learn! Love your blog, it is beautiful! I am right beside you on the Porch, if you want to check out my blog :)

  7. Very beautiful! I've tried a white on white table, but I never like the result. I think what just makes yours is the eye to texture from those gorgeous dishes to the matelasse tablecloth.

  14. White is beautiful on a table, and your table is a work of A-R-T! I am inspired by the matelesse tablecover. Oh, that is just gorgeous! And a perfect backdrop for your Wedgewood. I agree, your plates on the cake stand do look like a perfection.
There is so much that is wonderful in this table I could make a LIST! Like the fork and knife... so pretty! And the urn... and the tablecovering, ooops did I mentio that again? Well, it is so noteworthy. Thank you a million times for your inspiration!

  32. GORGEOUS! I love this Wedgwood pattern...I only have a few cups and bread plates, but adore them. This table is perfect. That matelasse cover is so rich.

I first saw this pattern in Victoria magazine and wrote them to find out what it was. They wrote back and said they didn't know; it was from a private collection. I found out seeing it used on a tablescapes. Could it have been yours? :-)

  33. Hello
Your table is beautiful full of my very favorite... Wedgewood. I have stacks of it but no queens ware. I had a friend that collected it and I think she scooped up every bit of it in the area. The shell edge is sooo pretty! Your table is gorgeous and the flowers beautiful (FYI the ironstone urn is really a thunder mug/potty) but I won't say a word :)
    Have a wonderful weekend
    Blessings

  38. Hi Jacqueline,

I do recognize your spring patio! Believe it or not, that was what first caught my eye on your blog, and afterwards, I made a point to try and view your posts. Isn't it interesting how our imagination is captured by the way other people live in different places? Having always lived in North Carolina, everything here is built from brick, frame, and occassionally, stone. So the stucco and adobe that is used in the western part of the country always looks interesting to me. I enjoyed watching House Hunters on HGTV for a while because it was fun to see those cute bungalows with Spanish influence in California and other parts of the western U.S.

As usual, your photos are lovely. I believe I saw the Wedgewood Queensware on a visit to Replacements, Ltd., and it certainly is beautiful. Hope you enjoy using it!

  41. It was a treat to see your gorgeous Wedgewood china.....I am now a lover of white but may never be completely happy until I own Queens Ware....the most beautiful I have ever seen! And using the bistro glassware was a brilliant choice...loved the graphics element addition to the mix. I am now a new follower of yours.
