Thank You Francis

I have no idea where it all started, but Valentines Day has never been only for lovers as long as I've been alive.

Remember the decorated shoe boxes? Those boxes may have been part of what got us all crafting today!

We even made our own valentines and glued together the envelopes. And they had nothing to do with Disney or any other movie tie in.

Yea, there are some romantic celebrations mixed in between here and there. But who is more likely to appreciate the beauty of the festivities, your best friend? or your husband?

If you threw a fancy party, who would be more likely to notice the linens?

The majolica dishes?

The lacy napkins and fancy tablecloth?

Thank goodness there's always some lovely lady friends to lavish the good stuff on!

My Hubby is a darling, and really would notice, and yours probably would too. But your daughters, or your workmates would love a little surprise spread like this, and the details would not go un-noticed.

A while back, Debra at Common Ground posted about a bottle of Coppola sparkling wine that she got as a gift. Just a beautiful bottle that was also used in the current Victoria magazine. When I was tracking it down I also discovered these fun tiny cans of the bubbly that Francis produced for his daughter Sofia's wedding. Well what else would you expect from a movie producer/wine maker?

They come in a four pack. Expensive. You'll want a really special occasion (like love) to break them out. But the girls will love you for it!

There's a cute little straw attached to the side that makes them perfect for a romantic picnic. I haven't had so much fun photographing anything this shiney since Christmas!

But with or without. . . .  I hope you make it a fun day. Just like old times!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
Ciao! for now!

  2. Hi, Oh, those cookies look so yummy, as do the linens and everything else! A picnic sounds like a fine idea. Maybe indoors! I still have a large, pretty, lacy valentine from a sweet boy in 4th grade!! I think I'll go bake some valentine cookies--you put me in the mood! I haven't baked in quite a while, trying to not eat the stuff! Maybe I'll give them away. Thanks for the inspiration.
    Love, Kay

  4. If only men could retain some of the little boy they were when they were excitedly passing out Valentine's in the classroom many moons ago!

Beautiful linen and china...the cookies are absolutely yummy looking. A picnic with champagne sounds wonderful!

  6. This is great, Jacqueline. I've met your hubby, and he IS a darling. I thought that a well-crafted beer was the only good fizzy you could get from a tin. I will look forward to your next cozy spread - for some reason they always remind me of home. Enjoy the cold!

  18. Hello Jacqueline
Your post is very feminine looking (as we do like) and the cookies are perfect for Valentine's Day.
As a matter of fact, I sent out invitations to 5 other women to join me for a Valentine's Tea. I'll be serving finger sandwiches, scones and dainty cookies.
You're right, it's a day not just for lovers!

  19. Jacqueline -
The sweet thing is that my husband doesn't value a special tablescape just for the two of us all that much, but he does like it very much when we have couples for dinner and they remark on a special touch. Well, I bask in his reflection a whole lot, so he's welcome to share the light around the dinner table! Your linens are so beautiful and they just make this wonderful table even prettier.
